Student Mental Health & Counseling

Let’s Chat

While we are working remotely, the Let’s Chat program is on hold. But we’re still available if you need to talk. We can connect you with a mental health provider, respond to mental health-related inquiries, handle requests for appointments, help with urgent concerns, or assist with any requests for referrals. Please call 617-253-2916 for more information.

Let’s Chat is a confidential program that provides MIT undergraduate and graduate students with easy access to informal, free, confidential consultations with counselors from MIT Medical’s Student Mental Health & Counseling Services.

If you have concerns about going to Student Mental Health and Counseling Services, a Let’s Chat counselor can help to address your concerns and explore the different options available.

Let’s Chat is a good fit for:

  • Students who are not sure about counseling and want to know what it’s like to talk with a counselor
  • Students who are not interested in ongoing counseling but would like the perspective of a counselor
  • Students who have a specific problem and would like someone with whom to talk about it

Students who have a concern about a friend and would like advice on what to do. Let’s Chat isn’t formal counseling; If you are very depressed or upset or feel like you need to speak with someone urgently, call 617-253-2916 and ask to speak with the on-call clinician.
