MIT Medical’s Radiology Service is open for X-ray, mammography, and ultrasound by clinician referral or appointment only. No walk-ins.
MIT Medical's Radiology Service provides digital X-rays, digital mammograms, bone-density scans, and fluoroscopy exams. For more complicated radiological procedures, such as MRIs and CT scans, we refer patients to outside centers.
Availability
For patients enrolled in the MIT Traditional and MIT Choice Health Plans with a primary care provider (PCP) at MIT Medical, no referral is necessary for mammograms. Your PCP must order other radiology services.
For employees, retirees, and dependents enrolled in an MIT health plan but with a PCP outside of MIT Medical, radiology services are available by appointment with no out-of-pocket cost. You must:
- Preregister with Patient Registration (go to the first floor of MIT Medical or call 617-253-4905) to give us your insurance information.
- Make an appointment with Radiology.
- No referral is necessary for mammograms. If your PCP is requesting other radiology services, ask him or her to complete a physician order form detailing the tests that are to be done and the clinician to whom the results should be sent. Bring this completed form to your appointment.
