Laboratory

Overview

The MIT Medical Laboratory is committed to accurately and efficiently providing test results for our patients. Our specialties include microbiology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing.

Appointments

For routine lab work, call to make an appointment or just walk in and take the next available time slot. Patients who need a semen analysis or therapeutic phlebotomy must have an appointment.

Results

Most test results are available within 24 to 48 hours. To protect patient confidentiality, we report test results directly to your clinician. Please contact your provider for the results or with any other questions.

Service availability

For patients enrolled in the MIT Traditional, MIT Choice, MIT Student, and MIT Affiliate Health Plans, laboratory services are ordered by your primary care provider or another provider at MIT Medical. We are unable to take lab orders from clinicians outside of MIT Medical.

Lipid panels

For lipid panels, patients should fast for a minimum of nine hours, taking nothing more than small amounts of water. Ask your physician about taking prescribed medications.
