Primary Care at MIT Health

With everything else you have to do, routine healthcare needs can easily be pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. Miss half a day of work to get an annual physical? Who has time for that?

But with MIT Health’s Primary Care Service, excellent medical care is just steps from where you work — on MIT’s main campus or just up the hill at Lincoln Laboratory. Many of us are working hybrid schedules now, but if you make an appointment for your annual physical exam and lab tests on a day when you’ll be in the office, in most cases, you can be back at work within the hour. Not to mention that employees and family members covered by the MIT BCBS PPO+ plan will have no copay for routine visits at MIT Health.

If you’re covered by any MIT-sponsored health plan, you can try out the services at MIT Health at any time. Make an appointment with an MIT Health primary care provider (PCP) for routine care or a specific medical concern with no risk or ongoing obligation. To make an appointment, call Primary Care at 617-253-4481 or, if your MIT-sponsored insurance policy is in your name, you can make your first appointment online.

You and your covered family members don’t need to choose a PCP to get care at MIT Health. But if you want to have the MIT Health primary care team on your side, MIT Health always has PCPs who are accepting new patients. Take a look at your choices, choose a nurse practitioner or physician to be your PCP, and tell any patient care representative at MIT Health to include that choice on your record. As your personal clinician, your PCP will get to know you and your specific health concerns. When necessary, your PCP can recommend specialty care or diagnostic testing at MIT Health or elsewhere and can coordinate your care when you are receiving care from other providers or outside facilities.
