In response to the COVID-19 emergency, MIT Medical has modified its operations to focus on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we know that you may have other medical questions and issues that crop up, even while you are staying home and practicing social distancing. That’s where our online patient portal, HealthELife, can help. HealthELife is the best way to access routine MIT Medical services during the COVID-19 emergency.
By using HealthELife, you can communicate with your provider, request prescription refills, and access your medical records, including medications, allergies, immunizations, and vitals such as blood pressure. If you are tested for COVID-19 at MIT Medical, you can access those results through your HealthELife account. Additionally, patients need a HealthELife account to take advantage of MIT Medical telehealth appointments.
How to set up your HealthELife account online
Visit the self-enrollment page to create your account.
Under the question “How would you like to verify your account?” select email address. If you have an mit.edu email address, use it to verify the account. If you don’t have an mit.edu address, or you used a different email address when you first checked in as an MIT Medical patient, use that other address. Click “submit.” You will be taken to a screen that says, “Help us protect your account.”
Check your email. HealthELife will send you a six-digit code. Copy and paste the code in the “verification code” field, and click “continue.”
Click the “Create Account” button.
You can use HealthELife to see your medications, securely communicate with your provider, and review your test results including any COVID-19 tests. You can also request appointments, suggest changes to your medical record if you see errors, and even send photos directly to your clinician.
However, there are a few exceptions to the above:
You cannot request Student Mental Health and Counseling appointments or send messages to Mental Health providers through HealthELife at this time. To reach your Student Mental Health and Counseling provider, call the service directly at 617-253-2916. Please note: Not all Student Mental Health and Counseling patients will be eligible for telehealth.
MIT Medical’s Dental Service does not participate in HealthELife.
Patients younger than 16 cannot use HealthElife, except for regularly enrolled MIT students. However, parents may sign up for HealthELife proxy accounts for children under 14 years of age.
If you have problems logging into HealthELife or experience technical issues using the portal, you can reach technical support services at 877-621-8014. Still have questions? See our answers to frequently asked questions about HealthELife.
