The MIT Pharmacy can fill any prescription from an MIT Medical provider or from an outside provider for whom a patient has a referral on file.
With the Student Extended Insurance Plan, your student will have a lower copay at the MIT Pharmacy than at retail pharmacies.
If you’ve waived the MIT Student Extended Insurance Plan, your student may still use the MIT Medical Pharmacy to fill prescriptions from MIT clinicians, but he or she will most likely have to pay full price at the MIT Pharmacy and submit a claim for reimbursement to your insurer. Alternatively, your student can fill prescriptions at any local retail pharmacy that accepts your insurer’s prescription plan.
