Prescriptions

With a PCP at MIT Medical, you may fill prescriptions through the MIT Pharmacy or at an Express Scripts retail pharmacy. You will have a copay with either option, but your out-of-pocket cost will be lower at the MIT Pharmacy. You’ll also have the option of getting a three-month supply of some medications, and you can pick up your prescriptions right at Lincoln Laboratory.

The MIT Pharmacy can fill any prescription from an MIT Medical provider or from an outside provider for whom you have a referral, including mental health providers. During regular workdays, prescriptions from the MIT Pharmacy are delivered to MIT Medical/Lexington for patient pickup several times a day, and most prescriptions can be delivered within two business days.

Set up your account with the MIT Pharmacy: Just call 617-253-1324 and provide your credit card or FSA card information.

For new prescriptions: If your provider has sent the prescription electronically, call 617-253-1324 to request that it be filled and sent to Lexington. If you have a new written prescription, drop it off at the front desk at MIT Medical/Lexington.

For prescription refills: Request refills any time by phone or online. If the prescription requires a renewal authorization from your provider, the pharmacy will contact the provider for you.

  • By phone: Call our 24-hour prescription refill line, 617-253-0202, to order refills using your prescription number, and follow the prompts on the refill line to let us know that you want your prescription sent to Lexington. If refillable, your prescription will be filled the next business day.
  • Online: Log in to FollowMyHealth @ MITMedical, MIT Medical’s online patient portal, click on the “My Health” tab, and choose the “Medications” link. From there, you can see your prescription history and request refills. When you place your order, make a note in the comment field requesting Lincoln Laboratory pickup.
