Finding a provider
If it’s convenient, you may choose to receive your prenatal care through MIT Medical’s OB/GYN Service in Cambridge, and deliver at Mount Auburn. If receiving care in Cambridge is inconvenient for you, the service can recommend other providers.
Alternatively, you can use the “Find a Doctor” function on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) website to identify providers who participate in the network for your plan. Just select “Obstetrics and Gynecology” from the specialty pull-down menu, identify your location, and choose the correct network for your plan. Once the site has generated a list of providers, you can sort the list by distance or use the “Filter your Search” menu to filter results by hospital affiliation, provider gender, or other criteria.
Or, if you have already chosen the hospital at which you’d like to deliver, you might start by calling that hospital’s obstetrics department and asking for a list of their providers. Then, to find out if a specific provider is part of your plan’s network, use the search by name function on the BCBSMA website.
