Eligibility

The MIT Traditional Health Plan is available to benefits-eligible employees of MIT, Lincoln Laboratory, and the Whitehead Institute.

The MIT Choice Plan is open only to benefits-eligible employees of MIT and Lincoln Laboratory.

The MIT High Deductible Health Plan is open only to benefits-eligible employees of MIT and Lincoln Laboratory.

If you’re a retiree under age 65, you may be eligible to continue to have the same benefits you had while actively working. Contact your benefits office to determine your coverage options.

You may add eligible family members to your MIT health insurance plan when you begin working at MIT or during each year’s open enrollment period or when a “qualifying event” occurs. Visit MIT Benefits for more information.
