Registered Dietitian, Eating Disorder

Reports to: Clinical Director, Student Health

Position Overview:

The Registered Dietitian, Eating Concerns is responsible for evaluating and managing the nutritional needs and goals of clients referred by the Eating Concerns Team. Many of the clients served are students, although other clients may be referred by Primary Care to the Eating Concerns Team. As such, this role will meet with clients in-person and virtually, perform a complete assessment, and devise individual treatment plans that meet the personal and therapeutic goals of clients who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder. The Registered Dietitian, Eating Concerns is an active member of the Eating Concerns Team, and actively participates in both outreach and educational sessions around Eating Concerns for the MIT Community in conjunction with other members of the Eating Concerns Team. This role will report to the Clinical Director, Student Health who will partner with the leaders of the Eating Concerns Team to manage day-to-day activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions[*]):

  • Conduct and complete comprehensive nutrition assessment for clients struggling with eating concerns.
  • Engage in individual nutritional therapy.
  • Develop a treatment plan that includes goals to help with recovery and that challenges the eating disorder mindset.
  • Develops therapeutic and individualized meal plan that supports the nutritional needs of the client.
  • Oversee patient meal logs using Recovery Record app to ensure adequate intake and plan goals and behavioral contracts accordingly
  • Creates flexible treatment models for clients, potentially including meal coaching and movement support
  • Coordinates care with other outpatient providers in the community
  • Conducts weekly nutrition support groups for clients with Eating Concerns Eating Concerns Team meeting and participates in treatment team planning
  • Provides weekly updates to Eating Concerns Team and other community providers regarding the client’s nutritional status and progress
  • Designs and delivers outreach presentations in conjunction with other members of the Eating Concerns Team based upon the educational needs of the MIT Community
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalency from an accredited program through ACEND, Graduate degree preferred
  • Licensed in Massachusetts as Dietitian/Nutritionist;
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a Registered Dietitian; ideally in the field of eating disorders
  • Strong interest in working in the field of eating disorders and behavioral health nutrition.
  • Has knowledge to incorporate Intuitive eating model and HAES
