Dental Patient Services Representative

DENTAL PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVEMIT Medical, to be responsible for patient flow and appointment scheduling.  This highly visible position has extensive patient contact, both in person and by telephone.  Typical duties will include staffing the front desk (e.g., check in, collecting co-pays, obtaining accurate insurance eligibility information, etc.) and performing administrative tasks (e.g., telephone calls, data entry, insurance reviews, filing, etc.); scheduling patient encounters (appointments) and procedures and coordinating within and across providers, service areas, and institutions; collaborating and effectively communicating with referral providers and practices to facilitate management of complex patient issues; providing effective customer service that supports departmental operations; and greeting and directing patients, families, and visitors.  

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or GED; at least two years of experience in a customer service, administrative, or similar role, preferably in a dental office setting; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; effective telephone skills and ability to communicate with patients, clinicians, and other professional staff; strong customer service and organizational skills; ability to follow through on tasks; math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with accuracy; self-motivation; and ability to work independently upon the completion of training and within a team-oriented environment and to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.  PREFERRED:  associate’s degree or higher in communications, business, or other relevant field; knowledge of dental terminology; and working knowledge of insurance regulations and form completion.  Job #22070-4
